  2. UNCW Alums Work Together On Atlanta Braves Training Staff

    UNCW head men’s athletic trainer Aldo Plata recently worked alongside fellow Seahawk alum and current Atlanta Braves head athletic trainer Jeff Porter during an extended seven-game home stand at Turner Field in Atlanta, Ga. Plata, who joined the UNCW training staff in 2006 after graduating from the school in 2003, traveled to the Braves’ home park as part of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) program administered by both Major and Minor League Baseball athletic trainers.

    The College of Charleston men’s golf program might be entering its first year in the CAA, but the Cougars have already made some news this off-season. On Wednesday, the school announced that rising senior Alex Ellis became the second member of the golf team to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Championship.

    Four CAA men’s lacrosse standouts have been selected to try out for the U.S. Men’s National Team, where roughly 98 players will compete to make the 40-man roster and defend the U.S.’ world title at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships on July 10-19, 2014, in Denver, Colo.

    Drexel men’s golfer and rising sophomore Chris Crawford, the 2013 CAA Rookie of the Year, has qualified for the upcoming 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship on Aug. 12-18 at the Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

  10. Former UD Men’s Golfer McLister Ties for 11th in Midwest Classic

    Former University of Delaware men’s golfer Joey McLister on Sunday finished in a tie for 11th place at the PGA Web.com Tour’s Midwest Classic. McLister, who turned pro in 2008, finished minus-13 with a four-round score of 271 on the Nicklas Golf Course at LionsGate and earned $13,800 according to PGATour.com.
