The United States International Lacrosse Association (USILA) held its annual Division I-II North/South Game on Monday, May 26th in Baltimore, Md. Nine CAA players represented the league in the event, while eight players contributed stats.

The College of Charleston softball team is preparing for its StrikeOut Cancer initiative during which the Cougars will raise money and awareness for brain cancer research. The campaign culminates with CofC’s upcoming doubleheader against Drexel at Patriots Point on Saturday, April 26 at 4 p.m.

The University of Delaware softball team took a break from its rigorous practice and game schedule on Tuesday night to give back to the community, hosting a softball clinic for more than 35 Special Olympics athletes from the Newark and Wilmington Area programs.

Lots of games were crossed off the schedule last week as CAA Softball squads went 17-3 in non-conference action to take the overall mark in NC play to 116-74 overall. In CAA action, James Madison took the three-game series from Towson, while Hofstra finally opened conference play and swept UNCW. Delaware earned a pair of wins over Drexel, while College of Charleston had the week off of league action.

Just a few weeks left in CAA Men’s Lacrosse regular season and the teams are battling it out for the wins. Last week the league earned a 2-1 overall record in non-conference play, while Drexel took Penn State to triple overtime to secure a 13-12 win and Towson upset #11 Massachusetts on the road, 6-5.

Last week, the CAA teams went 1-1 in non-conference play and ironically all three of Saturday’s games were decided by the same score – 9-7! Hofstra also clinched a spot early in the 2014 CAA MLax Championship.

Delaware Stadium will be the place to be on Saturday, March 29, as the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team hosts its annual Youth Day when the Blue Hens take on Drexel in a pivotal CAA matchup.

Conference play began and an exciting start it was. James Madison became the first school in CAA history to sweep Hofstra in a series. It was just Hofstra’s third series lost in CAA action. College of Charleston played in its inaugural CAA series as they took two of three from Delaware and UNCW went 2-1 against Drexel. Towson will open league play this upcoming weekend.

More games knocked off the schedule and more conference games challenged. Hofstra is now 2-0 in conference play with wins over Drexel and Delaware, while UMass and Towson are 1-0 to open CAA action. Towson has opened the 2014 season with a 7-2 overall record, which is the best start to a season since 2001.…
