’14 MLAX, Baseball Preseason Polls Released

On Wednesday, the league released two preseason polls — men’s lacrosse and baseball — in anticipation of the upcoming 2014 spring seasons.

Both polls were determined by a vote of each sports and schools’ respective head coaches. In men’s lacrosse, it was announced that Penn State, the defending regular-season CAA champs and 2013 NCAA tournament participant Β was chosen to finish first, followed by Towson (2 first-place votes), Drexel (1 Β first-place vote), UMass, Hofstra and Delaware.

In baseball, two-time regular-season defending champion UNCW was picked to finish first, with conference newcomer College of Charleston picked to finish second. The Tribe of William & Mary and the Tigers of Towson followed closely being, with TU receiving one first-place vote. Each squad represented the CAA in the NCAA tournament last season, with Towson earning the league’s auto bid and W&M capturing an at-large berth. Northeastern, James Madison, Hofstra and Delaware rounded out the remaining four spots in the poll.
